Recess week, recess for the weak. . .

Sunday, October 2, 2011

Recess week ended. Not that matters to me, I'm a working adult now, so, I ain't getting no rest! However, I did take 2 days of leave to go back Ipoh from Sunday(reached in the morning) till Tuesday(leaving at night). To summarise my trip back: It kinda sucked, one of the worse trips I've had. Elaboration: I went back with the intention of "fixing something", and it turns out, not only did I get my leave wasted by not being able to do anything about it, it will be another long long long long while until the next chance for me to "fix it". In addition, my supervisor, Prof Koh from NTU's father passed away on Saturday, and the wake was from Sunday till Wednesday morning, and because I was in Ipoh, I almost missed the chance to pay him a last respect. Thankfully, I managed to rush to the wake after I reached Singapore on Wednesday morning. My condolences again. Overall, trip back was pretty much wasted. Nonetheless, I did manage to have an unexpected meet up which I enjoyed very much, so, it wasn't all THAT bad. I would say, it's like you went to a restaurant, where the appetizer and the main dish were horrible, but at the very least, the dessert was sweet enough.

Abrupt transition: My photography skills has been deteriorating. Due to the lack of shooting(taking photos when you're out with friends doesn't do much as a practice IMHO), I've been drooling over my friends' photos while thinking that I'm falling behind in terms of shooting skills. When I was in Ipoh, Chong Yen and Kok Xian had a small photography project that I missed(now you see why the trip sucked soe bad? I missed so much without gaining ANYTHING!), the "Learning is Everywhere" photography contest organised by NTU. They even had a very good model! Sigh, what a loss.

Regardless, I'm still not giving up in shooting, and I'll shoot whenever I have the chance. If everything goes well(keeping my fingers crossed), I will be planning a trip to London next May(HIGHLY dependent on my next work contract). But for now, I'll have to make do with small events with my friends:

On Wednesday, I had dinner with Yuen Yee, Lip Chung and Siew Loong at Tony Roma's @ Suntec, to celebrate Yuen Yee's birthday last Saturday. I know, this photo doesn't look much like someone who's having her birthday, but who knows? Maybe she's sad that she's older? I mean, we ARE at the age where we can enter every the cinema for any kind of movies, casinos, strip clubs and what not. Hence, we don't really need to age anymore!
I'm not the biggest fan of ribs, thus, I had their. . . . crap, I forgot what they're called. Mini pork burgers, that's what I'll call them. And appearance is deceiving! This plate consisting of 3 mini burgers, fries and some salad is actually very filling!!
So if that photo is too depressing to be accepted as a birthday celebration photo, here's one with more smiles on them =) We asked a few of our high school friends who are working in Singapore along too, but because everyone's got different working times, it's really really difficult to get a time where everyone is free, even for dinner! Such a sad life we're leading. Phase transitions are always the reasons we lose friends along the way in life.
However, there are always worthy friends who will put in a lot of effort to stay in touch with us, regardless of what we're doing. Here are 2 examples of those friends that I have =) Really proud of myself for having such friends. Okay, enough with the "grandpa mode". This was on Thursday night, where Yok Yin, Jolyn, Raymond and Ming Li decided to get together and treat everyone for dinner after their first month's salary.
We went to Brotzeit @ Raffles City. However, it was so packed there, it was really difficult/awkward for us to be moving around, much less taking photos. Hence, one person is missing in this photo, Mr Raymond Lee =( Sorry Raymond, I had to wait for you to go to the toilet so that I have some space to take a photo of everyone else =(.
Food was great in Brotzeit, however, the German beer was better! Only had one pint of it(because I wasn't the one paying), which is approximately 500ml. And German beers taste so much better than the normal beers we normally drink!! So much more taste, so much smoother. Like! Thankfully the amount I was allowed to drink was restricted the other day, because really, after my trip back to Ipoh, I could use a malfunctioning brain a couple of days?

However, I'm not gonna talk about that right now, as I'm starving right now, and I'll be on my way for dinner with Kok Xian. After three days of eating outside(Friday was with my research groupmates), I could use a few cheap meals in school! Ah crap, repetition of sentence structure. Fail English. Bye!
