I've been meaning to write about my start of work, but I just couldn't find the time. After all, I'm working in a research area that's very new to me, hence, I had to spend a lot of time reading and catching up on all the theories that I need to know. Regardless, it's Friday and I think I deserve a few minutes to blog! Hence, a very short update of my new working life:
My card has transitioned from the red student's matriculation card, to the blue staff card. Nonetheless, I'm quite unhappy that the division I belong to was not shown on my staff card, because I'm actually more proud to be part of the Division of Physics and Applied Physics compared to NTU.
This is my new working cubicle in my new lab, 2 doors away from my old lab. I have my own cubicle now, and I have an extra monitor to use!! This makes my readings much more convenient(I won't say efficient), because whenever I'm referring to two reading materials at the same time, I don't have to tab in and out checking for equations etc anymore! I can just show one on one screen and the other on the other screen! My locker is also directly above my table, so I can stick pictures on it!! The photo you see here is the photo of Jia Pin, Juan Mun and me taken at Jia Pin's house. After the first few days of work, I do feel both the pressure and the fun in this new "life". After all, I get to see both the scary and nice side of my boss on the first day of work itself. The scary side is that he's a demanding person, he expects quality work from us, and he turns into a monster and scolds his employees when he's not satisfied. The nice side of him, well, to put it simply, he sent me home from work when coincidentally we both left the office at the same time.
In addition to the new working environment, in this first month of work, I'm actually in a bit of a financial crisis, because after 2 months of unemployment, I have exhausted whatever savings or leftover money I earned from my part time jobs during my days as a student. But. . .

. . .thankfully, just yesterday, I received some money from NTU, which is the money they still owe me since May for my H3 Lab taxi claims. With that amount, I think I can survive until my first payday =)Aside from the routine life of going to and off work, I have also started to exercise regularly. I would go to the gym an swimming pool alternately everyday, just to make sure that sitting in the office will not give me a belly regardless. Aside from that, my life is pretty much boring, with just work and exercise in the daily menu.
