ConGRADUAtion. . .

Finally it's my turn!! And I've decided to steal a few minutes of my office time to write about my convocation, just a quick one, where the photos will speak more than me. I have been very very occupied for the previous week, with my parents and Jia Pin and Juan Mun coming down to Singapore for my convocation, meeting Prof Koh before he flew off to Thailand last Wednesday, and being the photographer for Alison's convocation. I wish I can say that I am finally free now, but the truth of the matter is, I have a lot of research work to catch up. Hence, this is my guilt-filled post during office hour!!

My bro's for life!! These two guys here has been my closest friends for the longest time. 10 years of brotherhood and we're still close to each other. Put it in a more girly term, my "BFF's". Even Xeph commented on our photo on Facebook, saying how he's amazed that the 3 of us are still so close despite the distance and the years. Well, friendship is all about commitment and frankly, a pinch of luck. =)
Mum and Dad came to Singapore too! Since this is one of their VERY VERY VERY few vacations, I spent most of my time with them and bring them to wherever they want, walking with them regardless of how tired I was after the convocation(they went back to hotel early to sleep while I stayed with my professors and friends). It was the least I could do for them.
Aside from just walking around, since one day before my convocation I received my salary for July, I treated my parents, Jia Pin and Juan Mun for dinner. The place I brought them to was a place that Suk Kwan recommended me when I ask her where should I bring my friend for a "date" a year ago, but unfortunately, due to many twists and turns of events, I always did not manage to eat there. However, finally, I managed to bring my parents and friends to Ah Loy Thai at Shaw Tower, Beach Road. The food was great, not excellent, but for the price we paid, it was REALLY good value. Would definitely go there again. The best part of the place is, dessert is just opposite the restaurant! Tom's Palette has GREAT ice creams, and the day we went there, the lady who attended to me, was awesome!! Great service and great ice cream!!

So that was pretty much for my convocation. After the dinner, Jia Pin and Juan Mun had to take the flight back to KL, and after sending them off at the airport, I brought my parents to Clarke Quay for the beautiful nightview there. They were really fascinated by the beautiful lightings there.
And before I move on my friends' convocation, I would like to slip in a few words of gratitude towards two of my mentors, Prof Huan and Prof Cheong. Thank you Prof Huan, for being the most caring and committed professor towards each and every student's need, be it personal or academic. And Prof Cheong has my utmost gratitude for being an awesome supervisor for 3 years and for being patient with my mediocre abilities.
And aside from my own convocation, I've been busy attending my friends' ones too! Here's Yok Yin with her BIG bouquet of flowers from her mum and her fluffy teddy bear from Sean. The sweetest part is, Sean took a long lunch break to attend her convocation. These two are also two of my closest friends =)
And on Saturday, I was Alison's "personal photographer" for the whole day. So I followed her to her convocation, waited for her to come out from the ceremony and in the evening, took photos of her and her parents around NTU. As my future "portfolio", here are a few shots that I would like to share.
Arranged the timing to be in the evening, hoping for a beautiful sunset, too bad we weren't lucky enough. Regardless, the sky was not too bad when the sun was on its way down.
An out of the ordinary zooming shot of the graduate =)
A portrait shot of her with all the gifts from her friends. Speaking of gifts, thanks Alison, for the souvenirS from the States! Appreciate them =)

With that, I wish all my friends congratulations on their graduations and here's a short quote to end my post on convocations:
Graduation is a mountaintop where you can get a clear view of how far you've come. . . and a glimpse of the new path spread before you, so full of possibilities. Pause. . . reflect. . . and celebrate!
