Sean and Yok Yin to Ipoh

Thursday, December 18, 2008

No way!!! I blinked my eye for a second and it's already 18th of December?!?!?!?! Gosh, holidays are really coming to an end soon for me, since I'm going back to NTU on the 20th for my project purpose. Speaking of my project, I'm not progressing at all!! And I told Prof Cheong that I'd send him the graph once I got it, but I didn't manage to get the graph he wanted!! Sigh. Now I understand not everyday is a Sunday in research.

Nonetheless, it's not all that bad about going back on the 20th. I'm missing her crazy!! And since we're going back early, I can see her again, weee~ Besides, the last 2 days was very "FULLfilling", with Sean and Yok Yin visiting Ipoh and, ahhh, all the good food plus great friends bring nothing but A BIG TUMMY!! 2 days of non-stop action packed food hunting in Ipoh with Sean and YY has made my stomach bloat. Nothing worth rejoicing, but brushing those aside, more importantly it was an awesome time we had together.

First stop was Ipoh white coffee. To my surprise, Sean and Yok Yin did say that the white coffee there have a different taste! Well, trip not wasted and Ipoh wasn't all title only I guess!!
Next stop, Perak Cave. It's really nothing much to do but the caves are more or less the only tourist spots available in Ipoh. So we went there for some photo-taking.
After that, we went for a game of bowling in Jusco(not really anything special about Ipoh's bowling but just to kill some time) and headed back to my house to bathe and prepare for our next stop. Seafood in Tualang, whee~
In conjunction with the new and dumb seat belt rule, we came out with a brilliant idea of wearing the seat belt. LOL. Yok Yin was proud that she's able to fit in the middle with both sides' seat belt on her. Haha.
Was supposed to be a candid but Wei Ting's such a poser!!
The prawns were nice!! A slight regret for ordering only one per personOn the other hand, these crabs are a little letdown. Sigh, was expecting something more fresh than what's served. Well, that's not all for dinner.
Menglembu's honey chicken~
Then we went "tong sui kai"(translated: dessert street) for dessert. After that, my dad buzzed me and asked me if I wanna bring them to eat "nga choi kai". So we all went back to our house and chilled for a while set out for "nga choi kai".My rabbit actually couldn't be bothered that his picture was taken, as long as he has food. Lol.And after our late supper, we came back at about 3am. That's more or less about Day 1. This post will be edited to fill Day 2 in after I've obtained the rest of the photos from Siew Loong.

ProDex at KTAR!!!

Monday, December 15, 2008

The best part of my holidays, I believe is my KL trip. Reason being, it's a reunion with my brothers!! Wohoo!! It's been ages since all of us gathered together even for a meal!! And this time, finally we're able to gang up for some catching up and fun time!! For the first few days I was in KL, Juan Mun was busy with his FYP, but nonetheless we still manage to get together for a nice dinner on Wednesday night.

Well, Ipoh food taste better, but still this is MY Dinner of the Year simply because it's our reunion dinner.

And then, the highlight of my KL trip was ProDex 2008 @ KTAR!!! It was an exhibition in conjunction with KTAR's Open Day where they trot out the students' FYP project. Since Juan Mun was involved, he invited us there to support him. Haha! A bunch of cohorts being there for you, your morale's whopping sky-high!! And so we went, all of us!! I think he didn't expect that many of us to turn up, he was so excited and hyperenergetic when he saw us. Haha.

Juan Mun's Solar Tower!! Not a bad project at all!!Some storage system, this one was quite nice too!Ahh, this one was the champion of the exhibition, see the trophy there? He won 1st prize for it. It was indeed an eye opener for me at least, I learned something new from this guy. I learned about the Coanda Effect. Will spare you the Physics jargon, visit http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Coand%C4%83_effect if interested. On top of that, I have JM's presentation video to share:
video
Ta-da, it's such a rare oppurtunity that we're all gathered, we wouldn't miss out a group photo now would we? From left: Joel, Juan Mun, Me, Jia Pin and Ros Nea. Opps, there's another fellow missing, who betrayed us and went Pulau Kukup :P But the photo wasn't a good one, no thanks to JM's friends who didn't use the auto focus properly :p Kidding!!

ProDex was only one day, but I've been in KL for the whole week, so undoubtedly I had visited some other places in KL for the rest of the days. Will let the photos do the talking.

Christmas' around the corner, so for the sake of all the Christmas hype, those were mostly the photos I took. A little from Pavilion, Mid Valley and Times Square I think. Oh aside from that, I've bought something:
Haha, bought this at Low Yat with Joel. Couln't wait for the PC fair because according to my original plan I'm going back before the PC fair. The extend of my stay was an unforeseen event. LOL.

Joel and JP was craving for the 1Tb external HDD by Maxtor which was on promotion for RM299 ONLY!! But only the 1st hundred units everyday and we still missed it out when we reached there at 12pm on Saturday!! Wow talk about kiasu LOL. Well, JP still got seduced into buying the RM359 1Tb one by a cute lady there. Haha!! But it was still cheap compared to the usual market price of RM399. Seems like I did my research eh? Not at all!! All informations are quoted from Joel's research!!

Well, that's more or less about it for my KL trip. Somehow my words are stuck in my brain and wouln't come out, so I'm gonna pen off for now.

Finally I have some time to spend updating my blog. What have I been up to the last week? Well, it's one of the best holidays I've had. I got back from Singapore to Ipoh on 30th December. And my buddy Jia Pin came back from KL to Ipoh on the 5th, and THAT, is the kickstart of my holidays~
And I shall not spam you with nothing but words, I'll have the pictures say their say too

Right after JP came back, we went for badminton the next morning with my ex-schoolmates, Wai Hoong, Yuen Yee, Jared, Siew Loong. Well, it was just a typical game of rackets and shuttle cocks, but it's the company that matters. After the game of badminton, we do what we always do best when we have no rush for time, we sit down and eat and talk cock!!

Well, not really a super luxurious, hyper delicious and extra-sumptous meal, but I missed those kinda food!! So yeah, it was good~ Best of all, was the bunch of friends with me sitting and talking nonsense together. Ahh, the gratification of time-wasting, without rush for classes and assignments. . .

Well the rest of the few days JP's in Ipoh were spent with that thing up there in JP's place. After all, there wasn't anything much to do in Ipoh is there? It's always the typical cyber cafe, shopping, movies, grabbing a drink with friends etc etc. Oh speaking of movie, we did watch one back in Ipoh:

Well I think it's nice, but I prefer the previous one. This one lacks action in my opinion. But still, I like Jason Statham's accent! LOL. And JP was so delighted that he saw Tbag(forgot his real name). Haha. Aside from that, well, we had lunch with my dad in a restaurant somewhere in Pasir Puteh. It was good. Almost forgot what Ipoh food, or rather good food tastes like!!

*Blurp*
Dessert anyone??

RevampeD!!

Thursday, December 4, 2008

Was a little too free over here in Ipoh, well, after all, I have to wait for my research simulation to give me results before I can further analyze it and it takes about 1 whole day to run a complete simulation. So, yea, I did some revamp on my blog. Just the other day Pui Yee was complaining that my blog is pure black and white, it's straining her eyes just to read it. Well not that I'm adjusting to her requests (cause the new look is still black and white), but I figured some changes now and then does make life more interesting, don'tcha think?

And since I'm in a Devil May Cry hype nowadays after my recent completion of the 4th series of the game, I'd thought I'll find something about DMC4. Surprisingly I found a great DMC4 blogskin for blogger, but unfortunately it's all in HTML code. Well, time to learn Whei Yeap!! It's always fun to learn something new!! And so I sat in front of my laptop the whole evening trying to figure what each phrase and code means and experimenting myself after having copied the original one as a backup. And therefore, ta-da~ my blog's new look, proudly presented by ME!!

The original downloaded skin. But I don't quite like Nero!! Well not exactly that I don't like Nero, but I prefer Dante a lot more to him, so I figured I wanna replace Nero's face with Dante, or at least one WITH Dante in it.

And so I browsed through my wallpaper folder and found this picture. I like this picture a lot cause it's like an all-in-one package. You have Nero and Dante, and their Devil Triggers!! Plus some monsters in the game as the background.

But I realised later that I can't just replace the Nero picture with the picture I have, because Nero's picture has that blue border thing that makes all my blog posts and everything fits perfectly inside. If I blindly replace the picture, I'll get something very messy. That's when some photoshop work comes into play~

I made some combining of both the photos and there I have it, my new skin!! I mean, my blog's new skin!!

And after doing that, I sensed a stochastic urge to write something about it. LOL.

Something to ponder about. . .

Here's something peculiar. I've always thought that when we grow up, we grow more mature. Those silly little games where we say "I hate you", "I don't wanna be friend with you", "I'm your better friend" and shits like that, I've always thought it'll only happen in primary schools. Well guess I'll have to think again.

It never fail to amaze me how a university student can behave like a kid. Throwing tantrum over the smallest of the matter, acted as if you've done the most evil thing in the world over some trivial mistakes you've made, and best of all, feel proud for ignoring you and segregating you away from their group even though you tried to make it up to them. Geez, isn't it fascinating that one will grow more and more unforgiving as the age goes by?

I thought when we're stepping into adulthood, we care less about small little things that happened in the past, stuffs like, "You tease me" "I tease you". Can you really hold a grudge against a person over matters like this? That's an achievement!! But that's not all, there's more to this astounding attitude I came across recently. At our age, I've always chewed on the fact that we have better things to do than badmouthing someone we don't like and don't care. I mean, dude, if you don't like me, why the hell would you "care" so much about me and start talking cocks about me with other people? Don't you have better things to do, like, talking TO or ABOUT people you actually like? It gives me a feeling that you're envious of me, and it sorta build my ego up so please, no thank you. I don't need someone to make me conceited.

At one point of time they blabber about how they DON'T want to be your friend and how they DON'T want to care about you at all, at another point of time, they'll b rambling about you in front of other people.

*ponders*

Just another random post~?

Exam post-mortem, a forwarded email

Brace yourselves Physics Students!!!

Hi everyone,

The final exam was a disaster, and I would like to call a meeting with students on Tuesday, 2 Dec at 10:00 AM to find out why.

If you can, and would like to come, please send me a reply.

If you cannot make it, but have something to say, also send me a reply.

With that, our holiday was destroyed. However, I still respect Prof Cheong very much for taking his job so seriously and being so dedicated!! It's my honour that he's my supervisor!!

Oh by the way, since I was back in Ipoh on 2nd, anyone to update me on the lecture he gave that day? Appreciate it!!

The end of Sem 2. . .

Finally another chapter of my uni life closes. As the curtains are drawn, I take my leave back to the good ol' town Ipoh. Ahhhh, the laid back town, the ideal breakaway from Singapore. Anyway, on the day of my bus ride, something interesting happened and it reminded me of what a klutz I can be at times.

I went out for dinner with Boon Choon, Yong Hua, and Wei Sin at City Harvest just outside NTU. We had our dinner there, well originally we were suppose to eat together with Su Yun, Shi Yah and gang but guess what? Yup, they were late...tsk tsk tsk. Oh well, hunger calls and we had our dinner before they reach. Also because I bought that night's bus ticket to come back Ipoh, I took my leave first. Then it dawn on me that I'm a roadblind person. I tried so hard remembering the road I took with my friends just now, but all the roads looked the same to me. =.=" So I was wandering on the streets, trying to figure the correct way back to NTU. And to add to my dismay, it's getting late and I doubt I'll be able to catch my bus. Nonetheless, like they say, the best thing happen when you least expect them!! Song Wee called out of the blues!! He wanted to ask me for dinner and offer me a ride to the bus station since he was driving that night. Boy was he a savior or what! I told him I'm lost somewhere in City Harvest and he came from school to get his lost little friend. LOL! Sorry for troubling you dude!!

Well that's not the end of my clumsiness that night, and there to watch AND feel the klutzy me was Song Wee. He was kind enough to send me to the bus station, but I was forgetful enough to forget a few things AT A FEW DIFFERENT TIMES, and I had to rush back to my room to get it. The 1st few times were still NOT THAT BAD, since we're still in campus, so making my way back to my room wasn't too much of a hassle. However, when we finally depart from the school, that was the climax of my goldfish memory. Just when we reached the bus station and I wanted to take my lugage and bid goodbye to Song Wee, it came to me that I didn't bring my BUS TICKET!! *gasp*!!! What's happening to me tonight?!?!?! Thank goodness that Song Wee was the one driving that night, and he's willing to drive me back to school and to the bus station again. Was a little embarrassed that I have to trouble him so much though. Sorry yea Wee, treat you when I come back haha!

And so, after much trouble, I'm finally back in Ipoh. You know, there are times when we take things for granted that a certain person was nearby? And now that that person is far away, you realised how much you miss that person? That's what I get when I came back to Ipoh.
